I wrote this song one night as I considered how effective we could be in the kingdom of God if we truly grasped early on that we were called to be God's agents, his earthly angels, maybe?

...If we were steady witnesses and distributors of His love, His goodness, and His heart towards all men.. If maybe...we weren't so focused on ourselves...

"A writer never has a vacation. For a writer, life consists of either writing or thinking about writing." - Eugene Ionesco

"Most of the basic material a writer works with is acquired before the age of fifteen." - Willa Cather
"This is how you do it: You sit down at the keyboard and you put one word after another until it's done. It's that easy, and that hard." - Neil Gaiman
I am like a little pencil in God’s hand.
He does the writing.
The pencil has nothing to do with it.
- Mother Teresa

"We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect."

"A professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit."

- Richard Bach

“There are a thousand thoughts lying within a man that he does not know till he takes up a pen to write.” -William Thackeray

a man will turn over half a library to make one book.”

- Beth Moore

"WRITING IS ITS OWN REWARD." - Henry Miller

Writing is learning to say nothing, more cleverly, every day.
- Unknown.

Know that the Creator lives and moves and breathes within you. So those dreams? Risk them. Those words? Write them. Those hopes? Believe them.

"A writer keeps surprising himself... he doesn't know what he is saying until he sees it on the page."
- Thomas Williams
Writing is learning to say nothing, more cleverly every day.

"I am sometimes irritated by my own writing...   I am like a violinist whose ear is true, but whose fingers refuse to reproduce precisely the sound he hears within." - Gustave Flaubert
Writers aren’t people exactly.
Or, if they’re any good, they’re a whole lot of people trying so hard to be one person.
       - F. Scott Fitzgerald
"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."
- Douglas Adams
“When I sit down to write a book, I do not say to myself, ‘I am going to produce a work of art.’ I write because there is some lie that I want to expose, some fact to which I want to draw attention, and my initial concern is to get a hearing.” - George Orwell
"I can shake off everything as I write; My sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn." - Anne Frank
Writers are the heroes of our age... Writers tell all or close to it - so we all can be better. Writing is a form of care, a high honor, a responsibility... Writers are messengers. Thank God for them. #sheaWrites

"Real writers don’t write to get published. They write just to write. Real writers don’t write for recognition or fame or notoriety. They write, because they simply cannot not write. By their gifts and a higher calling, they are compelled to create. Real writers wake up every morning with something to say. And they thank the heavens for an opportunity to do so. You are a writer. You just need to write" - Jeff Goins
The writer probably knows what he meant when he wrote a book,
but he should immediately forget what he meant when he’s written it.

“One thing that helps is to give myself permission to write badly. I tell myself that I’m going to do my five or 10 pages no matter what, and that I can always tear them up the following morning if I want. I’ll have lost nothing—writing and tearing up five pages would leave me no further behind than if I took the day off.”
- Lawrence Block, WD
The secret of good writing -  is to say an old thing in a new way or to say a new thing in an old way.

"If it sounds like writing I rewrite it. Or, if proper usage gets in the way, it may have to go. I can't allow what we learned in English composition to disrupt the sound and rythm of the narrative."

     - Elmore Leonard

The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find their greatest happiness in using it.
    - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

(#2) I've Learned... That If You're Going To Pray, You Might As Well Be Honest. He Knows Already, Anyway...

7/23/2014

Growing up in church, I must admit I've heard all kinds of prayers.
Wordy prayers. Short prayers. Prayers that were full of heart, and prayers that lacked luster and thought.. Prayers full of scripture, and prayers full of drama. Prayers of faith, anxious prayers, and prayers that I just simply could not understand... another case of the deacon and his lost dentures? ...Perhaps.

"He has brought me to his banquet hall, And his banner over me is love."
(Song of Solomon 2:4)

This one, is everything...

When I think about banners, and what they symbolize...  I can only conclude that we are simply unable to escape God's eternal, uninterrupted, unconditional, very LOUD love... And who would want to?

Dear "Church Baby" - Part 2

7/4/2014

Dear Church Baby,

Believe again. Believe always.. You're preparing in time, for life in eternity.  Stay fresh. Stay open...teachable, and  hopeful... Fix your eyes. Imitate Christ. He's Cornerstone.
***
Being taught right from wrong, and sheltered as long as I was, still didn't save me from mistakes and moments of waywardness. It showed me something though. I wasn't being confined as much as I was being protected... and no matter how far I decided to stray, something... as if I don't know what ; ) --  SOMETHING inside always reminded me where I belonged. Something's always tugging.  Something will always pull you back.
God is faithful.
His hand and safekeeping is evident. Count it a privilege to have been marked at an early age for His service. To know better, see better, and be a light in this world.. To be taught before many discover...
Jesus - the answer.

Never lose your wonder. Never lose your awe.

 Stay on course... church baby.

"Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard....there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore." (Psalm 133:1-3)

Philippians 3:10: "My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death..."
Psalm 25:14-15: "The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; He will show them His covenant. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only He will release my feet from the snare."
Ephesians 5:18-20: "... be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father"

Ephesians 4: 15-16:

"... speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love..."

"And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise."
Galatians 3: 29
"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary."
Galatians 6:9

"One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple."

Psalm 27:4

"And having a High Priest over the house of God,  let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,  not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, all the more as the day of His return is drawing near. (Hebrews 10:21-25)
1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "…Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body."

"Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.…"

(Hebrews 10:35-36)
