A graduate of Rutgers University with a B.A. in Communication and minor in Spanish, by day, Shea works as a professional in Marketing and Corporate Event Planning - but for as long as Shea can remember, she has always desired to use all she's been given by God to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. A true church baby, she often jokes that she's spent more Sundays in the choir stand than in the pews; and at an early age, she would write "sermons" and record cassette tapes of herself teaching and singing about the love of God. It all only spoke to how she really wanted to live her life.
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere...
Throughout high school, Shea grew a deep appreciation for many styles of music under the instruction of her favorite teacher, Kenneth Brown. By junior year, she won "Best Jazz Vocalist" at a national choral competition in Ocean City, MD.
It was during her most formative college years, however, that she was able to grow and serve as worship leader at A-Life, a young adult ministry at Rutgers University founded by Pastor George Searight II under the covering of her home church, Abundant Life Family Worship Church (Apostle George & Pastor Mary Searight).
Today, aside from sharing in song from time to time with The Sisters, McDonaldsfest's 2014 "Best Vocal Group," Shea continues to serve in the music ministry at ALFWC, monthly at Revival City Church under the headship of Pastor George Searight II, and is forever in at A-Life under the current leadership of Minister Shawn Tucker. (Once an aLifer, always an aLifer!)
Shea is quick to admit that it hasn't all been easy - a child of divorce, overcoming low-self image, and living free from unhealthy relationships, she could easily be another one of your good friends or a big sister with an open ear to young ladies who just want to talk. More than anything, she longs to play her part in a world where unbelievers are able to perceive and know Christ through believers who carry His light and hope wherever they go. A relationship with Jesus changes everything and what an honor it is to share the best news ever.
Shea's journey with Jesus continues to fortify her conviction to heal, encourage & admonish through words and song - to love God, live fully and laugh a LOT. And she has NOT arrived. She's on the same road you're on; wanting to please the Lord and sharing as she goes - writing for everyone... any hungry heart will do.
